Many years ago I met this guy and we became rather close to the point that Id receive an sms from him every morning without fail and he would recieve one from me every evening without fail. This continued for a good year.
He always painted this picture of the perfect wife for him and he described her as follows."Ayesha my future wife has to have three qualities, just three, nothing more" I kept saying what a simple guy he is and that hes too serious about these things at such a young age but he would continue saying;
"1. Shes got to be able to cook and bake very well, you know how I love my good food."
Id laugh coz he gets excited for supper time coz his mom is whipping up a storm.
"2. She has to respect my family, you see Ayesha, I grew up in a home where respect was key and I want nothing less from her and for her"
"3. She has to laugh at my crappy jokes, I just want to see her smile and know that shes happy even if its just for those few moments"
As time went on, he wanted to marry me but the problem is that I couldnt cook though I could bake. He was willing to compromise that one factor. I felt I was too young to take such a decision and say yes that I want to marry him or get married in general at that age.
As time went by we grew apart and our friendship came to a sad end.
A year ago I learnt of his current life. He never settled for less than he wanted, he got exactly the type of girl he deserved, shes everything he always told me he wants with more than those 3 main qualities.
The lesson I learnt from him was that you should never settle for anything less than you believe you deserve and want in life, a higher power out there is ready to grant you all that you believe you deserve, you just got to keep your eye on the end goal, don't settle and never give up but what goes hand in hand with that is believing that everything happens for a reason.
If you learn anything from this I want it to be that no matter who or what comes along, DON'T COMPROMISE and DON'T SETTLE for second best or for what comes CLOSE to what you want, only settle for what you want and what you believe you deserve.
